There are few landscapes that are more diverse and beautiful than the California Coast. Every time I visit California, my breath is taken away multiple times a day. There’s waves crashing, trees leaning, and birds chirping along every bend of the road. It’s one of my dreams to drive the California Coast with someone I love; what could be more fun than discovering someplace new with great wine all around! Until that time, why not run one of the most beautiful roads while in the area?
17 Mile Drive runs along the Monterey Peninsula, through Pebble Beach and Carmel, hugging the Pacific Coast Line. If that doesn’t sound dreamy to you, I don’t know what does. On a beautiful day, the sun shines through the tall trees, glimmering down onto the water and making it sparkle, and creating a mystic pattern on the asphalt. Although there is no sidewalk, if you are paying attention and an experienced runner, this run is completely for you.
My run began at The Lodge at Pebble Beach and took me down to the Lone Cyprus Tree and back again. Along the way you’ll catch amazing views of the Pacific Ocean, incredible homes, the Ghost Tree, Pescadero Point, and of course, the iconic Lone Cyprus Tree. The run is 4 miles or 6.5 kilometers – very doable within 45 minutes including some stops for pictures.
So, will you join me?
